Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is Jezreel?

A: Jezreel is a full-time traveling evangelistic Christian music ministry. They have been on the road as a faith-based ministry since May 2002 and have ministered wherever the Lord leads. This typically has been in the following types of ministries: leading praise and worship services, youth groups, Bible camps, young adult ministries, small group Bible studies, Universities, international student outreaches, Christian coffee houses, Christ-centered drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, concerts, festivals, and street ministry opportunities, in the U.S., Canada and Jamaica.

Q: How can I get a better understanding of Jezreel Music Ministries?

A: The Jezreel Music Ministries website: http://www.jezreelmusic.com overviews Jezreel’s mission, beliefs, ministries, history, event calendar, and has band member bio’s/testimonies. The media page has photos, videos, and podcasts. Available from the Resources page, the Knowing God sermon includes Norm Vike’s testimony of being on skid-row hitting bottom after being in drug and alcohol addiction for 21 years of his life before surrendering his life to Christ and starting Jezreel Music Ministries.

Q: How does Jezreel lead praise and worship?

A: The videos on the web site (http://www.jezreelmusic.com/pages/videos.htm) show various styles that Norm Vike uses to lead praise and worship. He often gives his testimony. He can either lead praise and worship or do the whole service, including sermon, if desired. Norm will meet/speak with you to get an idea the worship songs that would be a good fit for your congregation. Jezreel has a wide range of songs, depending on the venue and setting.

Q: Does Jezreel help people enter into worship or are they more of a stage performance/entertainment-oriented band?

A: Unlike many Christian bands, Jezreel is very ministry-oriented and is interested and focused not on stage performance or entertainment, but in following Christ and leading other souls to Christ. This is very evident in their styles of praise and worship and in how the Lord uses them to bring souls that surrender their lives to Christ.

Q: Does hosting Jezreel at my church or venue require a lot of my time?

A: Jezreel is a "low-maintenance" organization. They desire to not be a burden to the local body of believers, but instead want to minister to and along-side the local body. As such, Jezreel is fairly self-sufficient with the ministry resources God has entrusted to Jezreel. For example, they have their own sound equipment, worship-song-lyric projection software, laptop PC, PC-compatible video projector (if needed) and their own RV-outfitted bus to sleep up to 12 band members. See related questions below, for more detail about sound/media equipment and host families.

Q: Does Jezreel charge to minister at my church or venue?

A: No. Jezreel does not charge to minister at your church or venue. They are truly a faith-based ministry and have seen God provide for their needs continually since May 2002. Often, churches may decide to do a special love offering for Jezreel, to help cover their expenses. They also sell CDs, T-shirts to cover some of their expenses. Sometimes, individuals donate directly to Jezreel. See Support.

Q: Does Jezreel need us to provide sound and media equipment for the event?

A: Jezreel has all their own sound equipment, which is their preferred method. They often project worship songs via their own PC laptop connected to your projection system, via the PC standard video connector. They also have their own projector, if needed, that they can connect to the Jezreel laptop PC. Their own projector is typically used in smaller venues, churches or mobile settings that don't have projection equipment.

Q: Does our church need to provide housing or host families for the Jezreel band members?

A: God has entrusted to Jezreel their own RV-outfitted bus, which sleeps the whole band (up to 12 people). They often park the bus in Wal-Mart parking lots (most Wal-Marts allow free RV parking).

Sometimes, churches allow Jezreel to park their bus in the church’s parking lot, provide Jezreel access to the church building (restrooms) and a power outlet to plug the bus extension cord into (Jezreel has their own extension cord(s)). That would be a real blessing for Jezreel!

Sometimes, churches allow Jezreel band members to sleep within the church building (e.g., the young adult men stay on couches or floors in the youth room; the young adult women sleep on the floors in the nursery of the church; etc.).

For extended stays, some churches provide host families for Jezreel to stay with. The current band members that would need host families or housing are posted on the Band page, including Norm and Marlynn (husband/wife) and the other band members. Ideally, Jezreel likes all band members to stay altogether at a single host family house, if the house will sleep the current count of band members. If not, the girls typically sleep in one host family house and the boys in another host family house (or on the bus).

They all seek to represent Christ, are all very polite and courteous to their host home families; and respectful of the host's property and family rules. Often, they like to be viewed, not as guests of a host family, but as part of God's family - brothers and sisters in the Lord. That translates into helping keep the home tidy and helping to clean around the home (especially prior to them leaving on their travels); cooking meals or sharing in the home kitchen duties. Marlynn is a great cook!

If Jezreel is only staying in your area a night or two, they likely don't need host families (however, I'm sure they would not refuse such offers of hospitality!).

Q: Is Jezreel Music Ministries a 501c3 "Non-Profit" organization in the United States?

No. Not yet. We are looking into the possibility, but no decision has been made at this time. Therefore, gifts to Jezreel in the U.S. are currently not tax-deductible.

Q: How do I get in contact with Jezreel to request an event booking?
