Carla Anderson

March 2008. I first came in contact with Jezreel, (at that time called, “The Truth”), in July 2002 when they came to play at the Baptist church that my parents pastored in northern Alberta.  After recently returning from Capernwray Bible School in England, I was struggling to find peace and direction about the future.  I was working two summer jobs when the group came to my church one weekend.  Their piano player was soon leaving the group, and when they heard that I played piano and sang, suggested a little jam session after church on Sunday.  That afternoon, Norm asked me if I would pray about joining the group.  Being the cautious, slow decision-maker that I am, I asked for two weeks to pray about it.  However, by the time they were ready to pull out of the church parking lot the next morning, I could not deny the peace that I felt in my heart about being part of the ministry.  I agreed to join the group, gave notice to both of my jobs, and two weeks later was on the road for almost a year-long adventure! 

What a blessing to be part of this group and to have gotten to know the Vikes and their family and friends along the way!  They have grown to become my wonderful second family, and have infused into my life a greater love for music and for God.  God used their influence to encourage me to make music ministry my full time pursuit.  God is abundantly blessing Jezreel’s ministry, and I am so thankful that I have been able to be a part of it.  I cherish fond memories of long rides in the original blue 16-passenger van, of much laughter and fun, our many Tim Horton’s runs for French vanilla cappuccinos as we headed off to another practice, hair washing in gas station sinks, Marlynn’s cooking with everything BBQ sauce (mmm!), riding with Shandell as she first learned how to drive, meeting and ministering to a huge variety of people, and finally, making great music with great friends.

Currently I am living in Denver, Colorado with my husband Nathan and baby daughter Lucy and recently graduated from college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music.  I am currently doing a music and leadership ministry at Highland Baptist Church, Westminster, CO.
